WM31: Which Match should Main Event?

Hello! Yet another Mania Blog- and this one as with the blog just preceding this one is one of the more charged topics every year. The thing with these recent Manias is that we've had the "Multiple Main Event" type scenario where there are usually 3- maybe 4 matches that are claimed to be Main Events; but as Punk said in his AOW Podcast- there's only one Main Event, and that's the match that closes the show.

While it is perhaps obvious which match WILL be Main Eventing- this blog is asking which Match truly deserves the Main Event spotlight from the 4 we've been given this year with the most build/prestige surrounding them- and I'll weight the Pros and Cons of all 4 in terms of the Main Event worthiness.

John Cena v Rusev- US Title
If this feud was 20-30 Years ago this match would be the Main Event without a doubt. It's a very old-school USA v *insert political rival here* storyline- but any match with Cena means something in my opinion. I wasn't- and still am not sold on Rusev in all honesty- I respect the hell out of his ring work because for a guy his size to be as athletic as he is, is a rare package. With that said it wasn't so long ago he was coming out in a Leather Skirt and breaking planks of wood in NXT, and I honestly don't see Rusev as a Main Eventer now or in the future. That said WWE clearly sees something in him and Lana- that isn't me saying it; they've put Lana in with people like The Rock and John Cena in their first year on the Main Roster- which is so rare nowadays you have to assume WWE sees him as a Main Eventer- then when you factor in John Cena who will be "The Guy" in WWE for as long as he remains active; you do have a potential Main Event worthy match in my opinion.

Bray Wyatt v Undertaker
With the exception of Last Years Wrestlemania- every match since Undertaker wrestled Batista at Wrestlemania 23 could have arguably Main Evented, and in my opinion with perhaps the exception of Flair/Michaels at Wrestlemania 24- every match Undertaker has had at a Wrestlemania since 24 has been the best match on the card; up until last year. If The Streak was still in tact there would be a lot more of a case for this match to Main Event; and had I have had it my way and there was a Retirement Stipulation on the line that would also make the match Main Event worthy- the fact there is very little riding on this match; which annoys the hell out of me means this match is probably the weakest of the 4 Propositions for the potential closing spot on the show. Factoring in Bray Wyatt's still relatively new character, he's been on the Main Roster less than two years after all- this match would probably be 4th on the Main Event scale; however I can see it coming on 3rd or 2nd to last because we need it to be dark to have the right aura for the entrances- both guys coming out in broad daylight would take some of the magic away.

Triple H v Sting
I've seen some people make pretty good cases for this match to Main Event- so if you want a really good version of this close this tab and look 'em up. I've already got your click *evil laugh*. But yeah, this match would be the one most likely to Main Event in lieu of Brock/Roman- who I've just realised if you make them into a celebrity couple become "Broman" *BUH BUH BUH BUUUUUUH*. This is of course Sting's first match in a WWE Ring- which in itself makes this match a really special attraction- then when you factor in the way they've built the match as in effect WCW v WWE; or they've at least tried to position it in this way. Sting's lack of appearances in the build to this match has been a real weak point in this feud- because unlike the Wyatt/Taker situation Triple H can't build the entire feud on his own because he's only good on the mic consistently when he has someone to bounce off of. That said- this match does mean so much because it is Sting in the WWE ring for the first time- whether or not that selling point in itself is Main Event worthy is debatable, but we've had Main Events built on a lot less.

Roman Reigns v Brock Lesnar- WWEWHC
Unless the IWC breach Titan Towers- bypass Kurrgan on the door get through the lifts by taking down The Great Khali guarding the lifts- which is surprisingly easy as long as you're mobile. Go up the lift, distract Kane by screaming "MAY 19th" breach Vince's floor- briefly stop to remove Post-It notes from PPV pictures featuring Walking Dead Enthusiasts before they finally get to Vince and force Daniel Bryan into the Main Event- which it transpires has also turned into a 3 Hour Iron-Man Match- Roman Reigns will get his Main Event. People would argue the Title Match should always go on last- CM Punk's 434 Day Title Run would disagree- but thats what people say *ooo ooo* I GO ON TOO MANY DATES, GOT NOTHING IN MY BRAIN, THATS WHAT PEOPLE SAAA-AY *ooo ooo*. Is it bad I didn't have to Google the lyrics for that? Anyway, Wrestling and stuff! But Yeah, the Title Match should always close the show- and that's that.

Thanks for reading as always, I haven't discussed the components of the Main Event because that's in my "Who Should be Main-Eventing" blog because I had to stretch this out to 31 Blogs- you've only got yourselves to blame really. Thanks again, and Stay Tuned for the future Mania Blogs this week- and feel free to go back over the one's I've done already, ya never know one might take your fancy.
